Surrounded by Bucklebury Common and Blacklands Copse is the largish village of Upper Bucklebury which was developed in the 20th century and is entirely residential. Upper Bucklebury has a general store, a public house, a modern Church of England church (dedicated to All Saints), a cemetery in a woodland setting, and a primary school.

Upper Bucklebury is about a 1.5 miles south-west of Bucklebury village and 2.5 miles north-east of Thatcham.
